Who is NATIONLINK?

More than a decade ago, in June 1992, Ronel Preston, formerly a national councillor of the Institute of Estate Agents of South Africa and Chairman of the education sub-committee of the Estate Agency Affairs Board , came to recognise the need for an association among well established independent thinking autonomous professional Real Estate agency practices. Accordingly, she invited a group of like-minded real estate professionals in the Western Cape and KZN to form the NATIONLINK PROPERTY GROUP.

NATIONLINK went national in 1996, giving expression to its name, when leading practices in Gauteng and Eastern Cape - disenchanted with the restrictions imposed by the franchise system, came on board.

Indicative of NATIONLINK's standing in the South African Real Estate community is the fact that to date, no fewer than 5 of its members have served the industry at national level on either or both the Estate Agency Affairs Board and the Institute of Estate Agents, and the group's Chairman since 1996, Dr Piet Botha, is a former Chairman of the Estate Agency Affairs Board.

Structure & Ownership

Each office is independently owned and operated, thus enjoying autonomy and offices retain their individual identity. The NATIONLINK structure enables members to actively participate in the management of their region, which provides security of control and ensures higher levels of comfort and trust with a more positive focus on the marketplace.

NATIONLINK S.A. Ltd. is managed by a Board of Directors who are elected by the shareholders. The National Manager, based at the group's national co-ordination centre in Durbanville, assists the Board in administering the affairs of the group.

Shareholding

NATIONLINK members are issued with equal ordinary shares in terms of the group's Association Agreement, regardless of the size of the member office.

Mission

NATIONLINK continues its mission to be an influential residential real estate "family" providing profitable benefits to all its stakeholders.

Fees:

NATIONLINK member offices pay to NATIONLINK S.A. Ltd.

  • a monthly membership fee
  • a percentage of bond commission earned

NATIONLINK members do NOT pay any royalties or any portion of gross commission income to NATIONLINK S.A. Ltd.

NATIONLINK members derive the benefits of profits.

Membership Criteria

  • Valid registration with the Estate Agency Affairs Board
  • 3 years experience as a Real Estate Agency
  • Operation in areas not in conflict with existing NATIONLINK offices
  • The ability to employ one agent per approx. 1,000 properties in the exclusive area
  • Strategically situated office/s with visible signage
  • Up to date computer hardware and software
  • Signing an Association Agreement with NATIONLINK S.A. Ltd.
